The Role:  The Harvest Transportation Manager oversees the seamless and safe transportation of harvested products from the field to the cooler. The ideal candidate will possess strong logistical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional coordination skills to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders.

Location(s): Salinas, CA; Huron, CA; Oxnard, CA; Yuma, AZ

Pay Range: $100,000 – $120,000

Areas of Responsibility:

• Logistical Planning: Develop and execute transportation plans to ensure the prompt and efficient hauling of harvested products. Collaborate with harvest crews and field supervisors to schedule pickups and deliveries effectively.
• Fleet Management: Supervise the maintenance and scheduling of transportation vehicles, including trucks and trailers. Ensure all vehicles are well-maintained and compliant with safety regulations.
• Driver Supervision: Lead a team of drivers responsible for transporting harvested products. Provide guidance and support to drivers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and optimizing route planning for enhanced productivity.
• Quality Control: Monitor the handling of harvested products during transportation to minimize damage and uphold product quality. Implement protocols to address any issues related to product integrity promptly.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant transportation regulations and company policies. Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust transportation procedures accordingly.
• Communication: Maintain transparent and efficient communication channels with harvest crews, field supervisors, drivers, and other stakeholders. Provide regular updates on transportation schedules and address any potential issues proactively.
• Cost Management: Optimize transportation routes and minimize costs while maintaining quality and efficiency standards. Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle maintenance expenses, and other related costs.
• Safety: Prioritize safety across all transportation operations. Implement comprehensive safety training programs for drivers and conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment to uphold safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field preferred.
• Proven experience in transportation management, particularly in the agriculture or food industry.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Thorough knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to enhance efficiency and productivity.
• Must be able to travel to our various operating locations of Salinas, CA, Huron, CA, Oxnard, CA, and Yuma, AZ, throughout the year.  
• Proficiency in relevant transportation management software and technology.
• Proficiency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) required; proficiency in English preferred.
