Romaine lettuce has an elongated head with dark green outer leaves that lighten to a pale green heart. The leaves are crisp and slightly bitter, and the crunchy midrib is particularly succulent.
Shrink-wrapped romaine is exclusively available from Tanimura & Antle and is the premium pack of head romaine in the marketplace today. It is harvested using our proprietary field-wrap packing process to maintain peak freshness at the optimum point of harvest.
Choose romaine hearts that appear fresh and crisp, free of dark spots or cracked ribs. Store romaine hearts in their plastic bag in the crisper or produce drawer of the refrigerator. Wash right before eating.
Romaine can be eaten raw or cooked. Wash Tanimura & Antle Romaine with cold running water and place in salad spinner or colander to drain. Pat dry before use. Use romaine for a Caesar salad wrap. Braise with white wine; garnish with shaved or grated Parmesan cheese and lemon zest. Chop hearts to use in all your favorite salad recipes.
