Description:
Romaine lettuce has an elongated head with dark green outer leaves that lighten to a pale green heart. The leaves are crisp and slightly bitter, and the crunchy midrib is particularly succulent.

Wrapped romaine is exclusively available from Tanimura & Antle and is the premium pack of head romaine in the marketplace today. It is harvested using our proprietary field-wrap packing process to maintain peak freshness at the optimum point of harvest.

Selection Tips:
Romaine should appear fresh and crisp free of dark spots or cracked ribs.

Storage Tips:
Store romaine lettuce in the crisper or produce drawer of the refrigerator. Wash right before eating.

Preparation Tips:

  • Wash Tanimura & Antle Romaine with cold running water and place in salad spinner or colander to drain. Pat dry before use.
  • Romaine can be eaten raw or cooked. Use romaine for a Caesar salad wrap.
  • Braise with white wine; garnish with shaved or grated Parmesan cheese and lemon zest.

Additional Storage Information:
Ideal Storage Temperature: 34° -36° F/90-95% relative humidity. Refrigerate immediately after receiving. First in/first out rotation. Store in area with good circulation and away from ethylene-producing fruits to avoid russeting, spotting or decay.

  • Merchandise with green and red romaine and seasonal fruits (apples, pears, berries), slice almonds, crumbled blue cheese and balsamic dressing for a delicious and nutritious salads.

Safe Produce Handling Suggestions:

  1. Refrigerate produce as soon as possible after purchasing. Refrigerate cut or chopped produce within two hours of peeling or cutting. Once cut, leftover produce should be discarded if left at room temperature for more than two hours.
  2. Wash hands with hot soapy water before and after handling fresh produce, as well as after using the bathroom, changing diapers, or handling pets.
  3. Wash all vegetables with cool tap water immediately before eating. Don't use soap or detergents. Cut away any bruised or damaged areas before eating.
