Description:
Italian parsley is a slightly peppery, fresh-flavored herb that has a wide range of uses, most commonly as a flavoring and garnish. Since it has a stronger flavor than the curly variety, Italian flat leaf parsley holds up better when cooked.

Selection Tips:
Parsley leaves should be dark green and tightly curled.

Storage Tips:
Wash fresh parsley, shaking off excess moisture, and wrap first in paper towels, then place in a sealed plastic bag. Refrigerate for up to a week.

Preparation Tips:

• Add parsley to pesto sauce to add more texture to its green color.
• Combine chopped parsley, garlic and lemon zest, and use it as a rub for chicken, lamb and beef. Chopped parsley can be sprinkled on a host of different recipes, including salads, vegetable sautés and grilled fish.

Safe Produce Handling Suggestions:

1. Refrigerate produce as soon as possible after purchasing. Refrigerate cut or chopped produce within two hours of peeling or cutting. Once cut, leftover produce should be discarded if left at room temperature for more than two hours.
2. Wash hands with hot soapy water before and after handling fresh produce, as well as after using the bathroom, changing diapers, or handling pets.
3. Wash all vegetables with cool tap water immediately before eating. Don't use soap or detergents. Cut away any bruised or damaged areas before eating.
