Exhibiting Artisan Lettuce and Peri-Peri Peppadrops at Fancy Food Show

SALINAS, CA – Look for Tanimura & Antle at the Fancy Food Show in San Francisco January 17-19, 2010. At a show known for showcasing boutique specialty items, they will be of the only major produce company exhibiting.

Tanimura & Antle strives toward quality service and innovation on all levels. “By going outside our usual trade show market, we continue to stay fresh and meet customers where they are,” said Rick Antle, CEO Tanimura & Antle. “People come to this show to see the next hot products. We’ll be featuring two of them... Artisan Lettuce and Peri-Peri Peppadrops!”

Introduced to the trade last year at the Foodservice Produce Marketing Association and Produce Marketing Association Conferences, Peri-Peri Peppadrops received an overwhelmingly positive response from chefs and buyers. Peri-Peri Peppadrops are cherry tomato sized red peppers that are pickled with the Peri-Peri (Piri Piri) spice, native to Africa by way of Portugal and Barbados. The brine is infused with Peri-Peri, which is a key contributor to the spicy sweet flavor.

The inspiration for this project came at a popular restaurant in Laguna Beach named Mozambique. The restaurant features the foods of Mozambique, in which the Peri-Peri spice is a staple ingredient. With ethnic flavors becoming mainstream in dining, these peppers add a new dimension to year-round menus.

“Artisan Lettuce has the quality of a specialty item, but it can be incorporated into every day meals,” said Rick Antle, CEO Tanimura & Antle. “Artisan Lettuce delivers on what consumers ask for - flavor, freshness, and texture.”

In the spotlight since its introduction, Artisan Lettuce was recently featured on California Country TV, Bringing it Home with Laura McIntosh, and also received high praise from “The Editor’s Dozen” list in October’s issue of Cooking Light magazine where it was listed as number one. Tanimura & Antle Artisan LettuceTM is quickly gaining popularity with trade, consumers and foodservice.

The National Association for the Specialty Food Trade’s Fancy Food Shows®, held in San Francisco and New York each year, are the premier marketplace for specialty foods where retailers, restaurateurs, distributors and others discover innovative, new food and beverage products.

“We like to stay ahead of the trends. Though we are a large company, we have remained entrepreneurial when it comes to our products. Artisan Lettuce and Peri-Peri Peppadrops are on the cutting edge meeting consumer’s demand for flavor, variety and creativity in their menus.”
